What are the BSD-DK mailing lists?
The mailing lists are intended to hold general discussions about BSD operating systems (FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, ...), as well as provide support to novice users. We will try to help anyone new to the system, as long as they are ready to do some work themselves.
More complex technical discussions can also be carried out, for instance:
Mere tekniske diskussioner kan også ske, for eksempel i form af:
- Hardware and performance issues.
- System development.
- Administration and configuration.
As with any other mailing list, personal discussions are best kept off-list.
What the BSD-DK Mailing lists are NOT.
This is not a technical support list for commercial enterprises. While we may clarify some obscure configuration point, or answer queries that concern issues of general interest (networking, security etc.), we will certainly not walk people through the installation and configuration of their brand new customer www-server.
This list is especially not meant to receive commercial e-mails or advertising. Any mail received that belongs in this category will be returned to the postmaster of the corresponding domain, with a demand of sanction towards the origination person.
Posting
Please cut off unnecessary lines when replying to a message, and please keep your line to 80 characters or less! (yes, some of us still read e-mail on text terminals or in 80-column x-terms!)
Also, refrain from posting binaries to the list -- this includes programs, pictures of your dog, and the latest kernel sources. If you feel you need to send a binary attachment to the members of the list, send it to the list owner, who will then make it available for others in the e-mail archive or via www or ftp.
Please do not use top-posting when replying to the lists. Write your answer below the text you reply to, and remove unneeded lines. This makes it much easier to read the lists.
Please read our netiquette for the lists before posting. Thanks!
