A Capella is a mono-spaced bitmap typeface intended to be used with terminal emulators and text editors. It has narrow faces that were inspired by Letter Gothic designed by Roger Roberson for IBM Selectric typewriters in 1962.
We made many changes from the original design so that the glyphs are highly legible despite the low resolution of display screens, we also made many adjustments to ease the reading of programs source codes. We also drawn many new glyphs that were not part of the 89-slot character set of that revolutionary typewriter.
The family is distributed as a set of BDF files with a Makefile for an easy installation. It is thus suitable for any X11 display or font server.
